On 8th December 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa welcomed to the Patriarchal See the Highly Esteemed Mrs. Lina Mendoni, General Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, accompanied by the archaeologists of the above named Ministry Mrs Evgenia Gerousi, Director of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Antiquities, Mr Alexandros Xenakis Head of the Department of Modern Monuments of the Directorate of Modern and Contemporary Archictectural Heritage and Mrs. Maria-Xeni Garezou.
His Beatitude discussed with the General Secretary issues regarding the spiritual and historic heritage of the ancient Patriarchate and then showed them the Patriarchal Mansion and the Patriarchal Library.
He then awarded Mrs Mendoni, the Cross of St Mark and commemorative gifts were exchanged.
