On 12th April 2013, the General Secretary of the Global Christian Forum, Rev. Dr. Larry Miller, paid a visit to His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
During the private meeting which His Beatitude had with Mr. Larry Miller in the Patriarchal Office, mention was made of the multifaceted work being done by the ancient Patriarchate on the African continent, and in his turn the Secretary General informed His Beatitude about the aims and activities of the Global Christian Forum which has its Headquarters in Strasburg in France, and was created by proposal of the General Meeting of the World Council of Churches, in 1998 in Harare; its aim is to become the voice of all Christians on issues relating to the protection of human rights and peace. He also spoke to His Beatitude about the Meeting which took place recently in Amman, Jordan, the topic discussed being the situation of Christians in the Middle East, as well as about the excellent co-operation he has with His Eminence Seraphim, Metropolitan of Zimbabwe, representative of the Patriarchate at global conferences and international organizations.
In his turn, His Beatitude congratulated the Forum on the initiative with which it contributes to the common effort of Christians in the Middle East, the peaceful co-existence of the nations and the good relations between Christians and Muslims, emphasizing that he has the total support of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and of himself personally. In conclusion, the General Secretary thanked His Beatitude for the wholehearted reception and commemorative gifts were exchanged.
