VISIT BY THE NEW AMBASSADOR OF GREECE TO THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA
An official visit to the Patriarchal Chair was made on January 31, 2023 by the new Ambassador of Greece to Egypt, His Excellency. Mr. Nikolaos Papageorgiou.
Welcoming the Ambassador in the Throne Room, His Beatitude expressed his joy for this visit, underlining the harmonious relations between Greece and Egypt. At the same time, he once again expressed the gratitude of the Alexandrian Church to the Greek State, as well as to His Excellency. Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for the constant understanding towards the general missionary, pastoral, humanitarian and national work on the African continent.
In his reply, the Ambassador thanked His Beatitude for the warm welcome and expressed his undiminished support for the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa. This was followed by a private discussion in the private Patriarchal Office, an exchange of commemorative gifts, as well as taking His Excellency Mr. Papageorgiou on a tour of the premises of the Patriarchal Mansion.
Present at the meeting were His eminence Pantelimon Metropolitan of Naucratis, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, His Eminence narcissus Metropolitan of Pelusium, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, and the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Athanasios Kotsionis.
