His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, arrived at noon on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Entebbe International Airport in Kampala, accompanied by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Elpidophoros Limnaios.
The Primate of the Alexandrian Church and Father of all Africa arrived in the capital of Uganda to begin his Great Missionary tour of the State of Uganda and Tanzania.
His Beatitude the Patriarch was welcomed with special honours at the airport by the Locum Tenens of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala, His Eminence Elder Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi, His Grace Sylvester Bishop of Gulu and Eastern Uganda, His Excellency Minister of the Presidency Mr. Thomas Tayebwa, Representative of the President of the Republic, deputy Ambassador Mr. Mozari Mohanad Representative of the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Orthodox Member of Parliament Mr. Theodoros Sekikubo, the Holy Clergy of the local Church and many faithful.
His Beatitude headed to the reception hall, where in his statements on the state television and radio networks, which in a live broadcast covered the his arrival, he thanked His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda Mr. Yoweri Museveni, for his respect for the Church of St Mark. He also did not hide his great joy on being back in the beautiful country of Uganda close to his spiritual children.
