On the third Sunday of great Lent, 27th March 2011, His beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch o Alexandria and All Africa conducted the Divine Liturgy and preached the homily at the Holy Patriarchal Church of St Nicholas in Cairo, with concelebrants His Eminence Alexios Metropolitan of Carthage, His Grace Nikodimos Bishop of Nitria, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo and His Grace Niphon, Hegumen of the Holy Monatery of St George in Old Cairo and in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece in Egypt Mr Christodoulos Lazaris, representatives of the Hellenes and of Societies, as well as many faithful.
Prior to the end of the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy His beatitude expressed the gratitude of the Alexandrian Church to the businessman of Egypt Mr Seraphim Bisara for the financial donation for the children suffering from AIDS in Africa and to whom he gave as a gift of gratitude a handmade gift from these children.
At noon His Beatitude attended an official lunch hosted in his honour by His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece Mr Christodoulos Lazaris at the Ambassadorial Residence, during which he gave the honour the distinction of the Gold Lion of St Mark to the departing Defence Attaché of the Embassy Mr Panayiotis Pastoutseas.
