THE PATRIARCH VISITS THE PATRIARCHAL ACADEMY IN KENYA
On 19th March 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Makarios, Metropolitan of Kenya, visited the Patriarchal “Archbishop Makarios III of Cyprus” Academy in Nairobi.
Following the Doxology in the Church of St Makarios and the address by His Eminence Makarios of Kenya, His Beatitude addressed the 75 seminarians and the almost 700 children who arrived at the Academy from various Parishes in Nairobi and the broader area, to receive a Patriarchal blessing. His Beatitude gave gifts to them all, toured the Academy buildings and ate together with the Seminarians who sang and chanted in honour of the Venerable Primate of the Apostolic and Patriarchal Throne of St Mark.
It is worth noting that His Beatitude’s visited coincided with the 40th anniversary of the placing of the foundation stone of the Patriarchal Academy by the late Archbishop and National Leader of Cyprus, Makarios III in 1971.
In the evening of the same day His Beatitude met with Protopresbyter Athinodoros Papaevripiades, who is responsible for the Exarchate of the Alexandrian Church in Cyprus and they spoke of the progress of this work in Cyprus.
