THE PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW GIVES HIS BEATITUDE A VALUABLE SPIRITUAL GIFT
During his stay in the Russian capital, for the enthronement of His Beatitude Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received a valuable spiritual gift from the newly-elected Primate: the continuation by Patriarchal decree of the tradition-agreement between the Churches of Alexandria and Russia, which began in 1956, that states that a Greek Priest serves at the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity in Odessa, with the agreement of the Patriarch of Moscow, the local Holy Synod of the Church of the Ukraine and the local Metropolitan of Odessa and Ismael.
It is to be noted that the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity in Odessa is a holy dwelling, which was united with neo-Hellenic history when it received the relics of the martyr of the nation Patriarch Gregory V and was served by the Great Teacher Konstantinos Economos of the Economos.
This church, during the past years, was served by clergy from the ancient Alexandrian Patriarchate, who were excellent servers, as well as the late hierarchs, Chrysostomos of Carthage, Irenaeus of Pilousion and others. Between the years 1985-1995 as Bishop of Cyrene, and Patriarchal Exarch in Russia , His Beatitude Theodoros II, served in Russia . He developed great pastoral activity for the Greeks who lived in the broader area there and was instrumental in the creation of the Museum of the Filiki Eteria and the Hellenic Centre of Odessa.
