On 12th Sepetember 2020, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Grace Nicodemus Bishop of Nitria and Exarch of the patriarchate of Alexandria in Cyprus, visited the Venerable Metropolitan George of Paphos, in the presence of his Beatitude Chrysosotomos Archbishop of Cyprus at the Diocese of the Holy Metropoli of Paphos.
Initially, His Beatitude our Patriarch was guided by His Eminence Mr. George around the premises of the new Library of the Holy Metropolis. There, His Beatitude was briefed on the rationale for the organization of the library as well as the digital programs used to archive the archival material of the Diocese. Afterwards, the two Primates had a private meeting with His Most Holiness and His Grace, during which they exchanged views on current ecclesiastical issues.
His Beatitude also informed his interlocutors about the prevailing ecclesiastical situation on the African continent, the difficulties of our fellow Orthodox brothers and sisters there and the difficulties of the evangelical work of the mission, while he did not fail to emphasize the Patriarchate’s ever-present love for the “wise”, “mild” and “generous” Archbishop of Cyprus. The entire meeting took place in a very cordial atmosphere.
Before his departure from the Diocese of Paphos, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, venerated the graceful icon of St. Theodoros Stratilatos in the Cathedral of Paphos, to whom the Church is dedicated.
