THE PATRIARCH OF ALEXANDRIA EXERCISED HIS VOTING RIGHTS IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN EGYPT

On 26th March 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa participated in the electoral procedure, because he is also a citizen of Egypt, for the election of a new President for the Arabic Republic of Egypt.

Immediately following the vote, the Alexandrian Primate made the following declaration to the Media:

“I wish to express my great joy, because today, as an Egyptian, I am voting for the progress of Egypt. I am voting for the prosperity of this beautiful nation of Egyptians, which together with my homeland, Greece and Cyprus, are a bright triangle, which in these difficult days will illumine not only the Mediterranean but the entire Middle East.

I would like to thank President Sisi for his love for our Patriarchate, for the Greeks, and to pray that he has the blessing of God. Before him spreads a promising future for our Egypt, for the whole world, for the peace of all people on earth”.
