The opening of the Holy Church of St Anne at the Marianna Vardinogianni – Elpida Children’s Oncological Unit, took place on 9th December 2019 in the vening with many high-ranking guests present.
Present were the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the His Beatitude Ieronymos Archbishop of Athens and All Greece the President of the Elpida Association Mrs Marianna Vardinogiannis, Metropolitan Symeon of Fthiotis who performed the Sanctification ceremony, ministers, parliamentarians, politicians, the Hospital staff as well as children in the hospital together with their parents.
The Director of the Hospital thanked and congratulated Mrs Vardinogiannis for her important social work and awarded her a plaque of honour. On her behalf the President of the Elpida Association thanked all her colleagues noting that “the fact the children express their love with a smile is the greatest reward”.
