On 28th October 2023 His Beatitude Theodoro II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, was present in prayer from the Holy Sanctuary during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Alexandria.
Following this His Beatitude, Supported by Their Eminences the Metropolitans Panteleimon of Naucratis, Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod, Narcissus of Pelusium, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria and Germanos of Tamiathus, Head of the Holy Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria, officiated at the official Doxology for the National Anniversary of the 28th October, as well as at the memorial prayers for the fallen Egyptian fighters during the epic of the year 1940.
The anniversary events were attended by the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Mr. Ioannis Pyrgakis, who also read the special message of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Georgios Kotsiras, to the Hellenic diaspora, the Honorable President of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Mr. Andreas Vafiadis, the Honorable President of the Cypriot Brotherhood Ms. Maria Formosi, the Honorary President of the Lyceum of Greek Ladies Mrs. Aliki Antoniou, the teachers and students of the Greek schools and other officials.
