THE LIGHT OF CHRIST IN THE EXTREME OF AFRICA
Continuing the sixth day of his journey to the Holy Metropolis of Mwanza, on 13th October His Beatitude, accompanied by local Metropolitan Ieronymos, went to the city of RUBALE – KAGERA to bless the 300 pupils at the “St Sosthenes” Orthodox High School. This High School was constructed through the costs of donors from Greece, the late Mrs. Georgia Klirou from Tripoli and the late Prosecutor Mr. Evangelos Krystallakis, while the adjacent hostels were constructed with donations – the male hostel from the Ophthalmologist Mr. Thomas Kitsos and the female one from Mr. Konstantinos Emmanuel, both from Athens.
It is a great thing for children to have food and accommodation, so that they are not forced to travel tens of kilometres.
Also, two parishes from California in the United States of America, the Parish of St. Paul in IRVINE and the parish of St. Barbara in the city of the same name, donated to the “St Sosthenes” High School a classroom for Information Technology studies, together with the appropriate equipment and computers.
The Patriarch enjoyed the liveliness of the children and congratulated them on their successes at the Universities.
His Beatitude always emphasizes the need for Schools in which one invests in the future of the country.
It is noteworthy that Christians and Muslims study together, which defines the spirit of our Missionary Patriarchate.
