THE FEAST OF ST SAVVAS THE SANCTIFIED AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA
In a devout atmosphere and with due solemnity, on December 5, 2023, the memory of Saint Savvas the Sanctified was celebrated in the city of Alexandria.
His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at Orthros and presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St. Savvas, concelebrated by His Eminence Narcissus Metropolitan of Pelusium, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria and His Eminence Germanos Metropolitan of Tamiathus.
With words of love, His Beatitude addressed the faithful, to whom he wished that Saint Savvas would be a consolation, blessing and spiritual comfort in the lives of all the faithful and their families.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Alexandrian Primate performed the consecration to the rank of Archimandrite of the Egyptian-born Fr. Vasilios Biuk, a priest of the Ancient Patriarchate, to whom he addressed paternal counsel and advice, while extolling the brilliant studies and praising the obedience and modesty that distinguish him, elements which, as he characteristically mentioned, are a guarantee for a path blessed within the Church with fear of God and love for fellow man.
After the end of the Eucharist, a festive reception was held in the Guest Hall of the Monastery, offered by Mrs. Aliki Antoniou, President of the branch of the Lyceum of Greek Women of Alexandria.
