On the night of 18th July 2009, in Cairo, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa met with Mr Stephen Kalonzo Moyzioka, the Deputy President of Kenya.
The Alexandrian Primate welcomed the Kenyan Deputy President in the Patriarchal Variate in Cairo, and showed him around the Patriarchal Church of St Nicholas. Welcoming his guest, His Beatitude expressed his joy on the visit of the Deputy President of this African country, which numbers the greatest number of Greek orthodox Christians and which plays a great role in the future of the entire African continent.
His Beatitude asked that Mr Mouzioka pass on his thanks to His Excellency the President of Kenya for the interest he shows and his love for the missionary work of the Patriarchate.
“We thank you for everything you give to our suffering African brothers and sisters”, said the Deputy President of Kenya.He ended by saying: ” In your person we see a great figure with many years of contirbution to Africa and we, with our few means, support you missionary work, waiting with joy for you to visit Kenya and your flock there again soon”.
