Photographic snapshots from the meeting of His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa with His Excellency the Prime Minister of Rwanda Mr. Edouard Enzirad, during the recent official visit of His Beatitude to the Holy Metropolis of Burundi and Rwanda.
Specifically, on Saturday October 29, 2002, the venerable Primate of the Alexandrian Church, accompanied by Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt Mrs. Rania El Banna, the local Metropolitan Innocent of Burundi and Rwanda, the Metropolitans Ieronymos of Kampala and Hariton of Kananga as well as His Grace Neophytos Bishop of Nyeri, was received by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Rwanda at the Prime Minister’s Palace. The Prime Minister thanked His Beatitude for his first visit to developing Rwanda and assured him of the state’s full support for the local Orthodox Church.
His Beatitude informed the Prime Minister about the centuries-old course of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa, as well as the generally diverse pastoral, social and humanitarian work carried out in all the states of the African continent. Finally, he also expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Rwanda Mr. Paul Kagame for his understanding towards the Orthodox community.
