STATEMENT BY HIS BEATITUDE REGARDING THE EVENTS IN EGYPT

     Due to events in Egypt His Beatitude issued the following statement:  “For the noble people of Egypt, that seeks a life of freedom and a better tomorrow, as do all the people of the world, we fervently call on the compassion of God. For this country, as it is a place where God walked seeing that Christ  Himself lived here and for centuries Christians and Muslims have co-existed, I pray that the sun will rise in peace for us all”.

     Also, on 27^th November 2011, His Beatitude departed by air for Cyprus, to participate in the general assembly of the Middle Eastern Council of Churches. Within the framework of his visit to Cyprus, His Beatitude will meet also with His Excellency the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Dimitrios Christofias.
