Having regrettably been informed of the passing to the Lord of the former President of the Hellenic Republic and your husband, the late sealed by his presence Karolos Papoulias, a political man who marked by his presence the contemporary history of Greece as well as his general contribution to the Ancient Apostolic and Senior Patriarchate of Alexandria, though this our Patriarchal Letter, we hasten to express our wholehearted condolences to you personally and to the entire Greek Nation.
It is with deep emotion that we recall that in 2006 during the official inauguration of our Patriarchal Mansion, he was present as President of the Hellenic Republic, to which the presence of the late Karolos Papoulias gave a particular honour and splendour!
We pray extensively that the Lord of life and death place his soul in the place of the living, and grant to you and your dear children the richness of His consolation.
May his memory be eternal!
