On 17th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Grace Meletios Bishop of Katanga, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Narkissos Gammo, Principal of the “St Athanasios” Patriarchl Academy of Alexandria, the Honourable Consul of Greece Mr Gerasimos Dounis and the Chairman of the Hellenic Community Mr George Psarommatis went to the City Hll of the city of Lubumbashi where he was met by the Honourable Mayor Mr. Sanguza Mutunda.
Welcoming the arrival of His Beatitude the Mayor praised the contribution of the Greeks of the city as well as that of the Holy Diocese, assuring the high-ranking guests of the unconditional assistance of the local government in the many activities.
His Beatitude thanked the Honourable Mr. Sanguza Mutunda for the honoured welcome and praised the progress and the development which he has noted over time, and announced the move of the Diocese of Katanga to Lubumbashi. He then presided over a meeting of all the Mayors of the cities in the broader region.
