NEW CHANCELLOR OF THE HOLY SYNOD OF THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA AND ALL AFRICA
On 25th March 2011 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa conducted the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Alexandria, during which he announced the appointment of His Hierarchal Director the Very reverend Archimandrite Panteleimon Arathymos as the new Chancellor of the Holy Synod of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.
The new Chancellor, Archimandrite Panteleimon Arathymos, (a Preacher of the Holy Metropolis of Syros) was born on the island of Tinos in 1974. He holds a degree in Theology from the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens and is a graduate of the French Institute in Athens. He was ordained to the Diaconate in 2000 and as Priest and Archimandrite in 2001 by the late Metropolitan Dorotheos Stekas of Syros, and served as esecutive staff of the Holy Metropolis, beside His Eminence Dorotheos of Syros. He speaks English, French and Italian.
In October 2006 following an invitation by His Beatitude, he was seconded by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece to the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, where he served as Patriarchal Director of Developmental Works, Director of the Office of the Webpage and the Internet, Codicographer of the Holy Synod and Director of the Private Patriarchal Office. He is also a member of the Patriarchal Council on European Issues.
