On 10th February 2015, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Niphon, Metropolitan of Pilousion, had an official meeting in Cairo with His Excellency the President of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin, in the framework of his official visit to the Egyptian capital.
During the meeting, which lasted for an hour, Mr. Putin discussed with the Alexandrian Primate issues regarding Orthodoxy, Egypt, Africa and the missionary work of the Alexandrian Church, and a great part of their discussion centered on Greece.
On his behalf, the Patriarch of Alexandria thanked him for all that his country has contributed to the Orthodox Church of Africa, as well as the further strengthening of relations between Russia and Egypt, – where the See is situated, in Alexandria, – of the Second Throne Patriarchate, which historically maintains excellent relations with the Church of Moscow.
