KENYA, THE HEART OF ORTHODOXY WELCOMED PATRIARCH THEODOROS
In the early hours of Saturday, November 21st, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for a ten-day pastoral visit to the country where the heart of Orthodoxy has been beating for many years.
Despite the early hour, the Alexandrian Primate was met at the International airport, by with all formality and honour by the Elder Metropolitan of Nairobi His Eminence Makarios, His Grace Bishop Neophytos of Nyeri, His Grace Sylvester of Gulu and His Grace Markos of Kisumu, the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Antonios Sgouropoulos, the Ambassador of Egypt Mr Mahmoud Ali Talaat, the Consul of Egypt, African priests and Deacon Irenaios.
On Sunday 22 November His Beatitude will serve the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Pavlos in the Kangira district, on Monday he will visit Nyeri, on Tuesday Kisumu where he will serve a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, on Thursday he will visit the newly established Diocese of Eldoret and on Friday he will return to Nairobi.
The Alexandrian Primate is accompanied on his tour by His Eminence George Metropolitan of Guinea.
