HIS BEATITUDE VISITS THE GREEK EMBASSY IN CAIRO
On 19th January 2009, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa together with His Grace Nikodimos, Bishop of Nitria, visited the Greek Embassy in Cairo to bless the Vasilopitta, as is the custom.
Addressing His Excellency the Ambassador and the diplomatic staff, His Beatitude expressed his contentment in meeting with the staff of the Greek Embassy, emphasizing the significance of their work, given the importance of the relationship between Greece and Egypt . He also thanked His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr Hosni Mubarak for the protection and support which he shows to the ancient Patriarchate and its Primate. He also mentioned his imminent official visit to Cameroon in February 2009, a country whose 300 Greeks and thousands of native faithful he served as Metropolitan for four years.
He also expressed his gratitude to Greece and to the Greek Embassy who ceaselessly give assistance to the Church of the Land of the Nile .
