HIS BEATITUDE VISITS THE EMBASSY OF EGYPT IN KHARTOUM
On the evening of 25 February 2010 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa visited the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum. His Beatitude was welcomed by His Excellency Ambassador Mr. Afifi Abdel-Wahab. Also present were His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece Mr. Christos Karapanos, His Excellency the Ambassador of Russia, the Apostolic Nuncio Mr. Leo Boccardi, the Hierarchs of the Coptic Church in Sudan, the Honourary Chairman of the Hellenic Community Mr. Xenophon Karapanayiotis, businessmen, dignitaries, and others.
His Beatitude, having thanked His Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt for the honour shown him, the hospitality and the dinner, he prayed for the health of His Excellency the President of Egypt Mr. Hosni Mubarak and the progress of the hospitable Egyptian people. He also spoke of the Missionary, spiritual and Humnaistic service of the Church of Alexandria in Africa. Commemorative gifts were then exchanged and the evening closed with prayers for the friendship and collaboration between the people of Greece and Egypt.
