HIS BEATITUDE MEETS WITH THE NEW COMMITTEE OF THE HELLENIC COMMUNITY OF ALEXANDRIA
His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa held a first meeting with the new Committee of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria in an especially warm atmosphere on 18th May 2009.
The Alexandrian Primate wished that the new committee would “Work with all its power for the benefit of the Greeks of Alexandria”. “This is our mutual struggle for Hellenism and Orthodoxy”, stressed His Beatitude, urging the new members of the Community Committee to work with their hearts, so that “Greek colours can continue to make us proud in the Land of the Nile , through this Community which has existed for a century and a half”.
The new Chairman, Mr Ioannis Siokas, passed on the greetings of the Community and stressed the support of the Greeks of Egypt to the work of the Orthodox Church in Africa .
Present at the meeting were the First Deputy Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria, Mr Dimitris Vafiades, the Second Deputy Mr Nikos Kopelos, the Secretary General Mr Dimitrios Papastefanou and the Financial Supervisor Mr. Emmanuel Tatakis
