On 22nd January 2011 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received at the Patriarchal See Mr. Panayiotis Tsoumerkas, Lecturer at the Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessaloniki, a colleague of His Beatitude and Mr. Gregory Liantas, Professor at the same Academy and held lengthy discussions with them regarding publications and the historic Archive of the ancient Patriarchate.
Particularly, in the presence of the Director of the Patriarchal Library of Alexandria Mr. Apostolos Trifyllis, the issue of organizing the Historic Archive of the Patriarchate was discussed, so that it could become available to researchers. It was thus decided to transfer the archive to a new and especially transformed area to begin the recording, archiving and future digitalization from the beginning of the entire archival material.
