On 29th December 2010 His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received at the Patriarchal See the distinguished Alexandrian Mr Takis Arapoglou on his private visit. His Beatitude congratulated Mr Arapoglou on his appointment to the position of Managing Director Merchant Banking of EFG-Hermes Holding, the largest investment bank in the Middle East.
The two are great friends from the period when Mr Arapoglou, as President and Managing Director of the National Bank of Greece, who felt a responsibility towards the Alexandria of Orthodoxy, Knowledge and Hellenism, undertook to sponsor the complete renovation of the historical Patriarchal Library. Accompanied by His Beatitude, he again visited the Library, where he was told of the ongoing work in the areas of cataloguing, encoding and maintenance, as well as the conventions and other cultural activities which take place in the hall which bears his name.
It is to be noted that Mr Arapoglou was born in Alexandria from Alexandrian parents. He followed a bright path receiving international academic title in Mathematics, in Shipbuilding and in Business Management and, specialising in asset management, bonds and shares, Productions and Strategies, undertook significant positions in important financial and economic organizations and multinational companies.
