     On 13th July 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan George of Accra, his Representative in Athens,  visited Mr Stavros Lambrinidis, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

     During the meeting, at which His Excellency the General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis-Alexios Zeppos, His Excellency Ambassador Damianakis, Director of the E2 Foreign Affairs Ministry and the new Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Mr. Kapodistrias, were present, His Beatitude informed the Minister about the activities of the Patriarchate, both in Egypt, as well as in Africa, with special mention of the missionary and humanistic efforts. He also prayed that Greece would soon overcome the present difficult situation, so that peace and prosperity could return to the Greek people, for whom he prays ceaselessly.

     The Minister congratulated His Beatitude on the contribution of the ancient Church of Alexandria to the suffering nations and expressed his certainty that the Greek State will always support the Patriarchate and its Venerable Primate. Commemorative gifts were exchanged.
