On the morning of Thursday 1st December 2011, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa met with His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Mr Neocles Sylikiotis and discussed with him the details of the ceding of state land where the Exarchate of the Patriarchate in Cyprus will be built. The meeting was conducted in a cordial manner and His Beatitude had the opportunity of telling the Minister about the work of the Patriarchate on the African continent and the political developments in Egypt.
Afterwards His Beatitude went to the Egyptian Embassy and met with Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt in Cyprus Mrs. Menha Mahrous Bakhoum. The Ambassador welcomed His Beatitude warmly, thanked him for honouring the embassy with his visit and informed him about the outcome of the parliamentary elections. On his behalf His Beatitude thanked the Ambassador, told her about his visit to Cyprus and prayed that peace, harmony and prosperity would prevail in the Land of the Nile.
In the afternoon of the same day His Beatitude went to the Archdiocesan Mansion and met with His Beatitude Chrysostomos II Archbishop of Cyprus, who hosted a lunch in the Patriarch’s honour and which was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Late in the evening His Beatitude departed for Egypt. At the Airport in Larnaca His Beatitude was seen off by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus.
