On Thursday 29th January 2009, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Russia, flew from Cairo accompanied by His Grace Gabriel of Mareotis, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, destined for Moscow , to attend the enthronement ceremony of the newly elected Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
At the International Airport of the Russian capital, His Beatitude was met by His Eminence Paul, Archbishop of Riaza, on behalf of the Moscow Patriarchate, His Grace Athanasios, Bishop of Cyrene Patriarchal Exarch in Russia of the Alexandrian Patriarchate, and a representative of the Egyptian Embassy.
The following day, Friday 30th January 2009, His Beatitude conducted a Memorial Service at the Holy Church of the Epiphany for the repose of the soul of the late Patriarch Alexios II.
On Saturday 31st January 2009, he visited both the Greek and Egyptian Embassies in Moscow and in the evening he officiated at the Service of Vespers at the Church of All Saints , which is a dependency of the Alexandrian Church.
Tomorrow, Sunday 1st February, 2009, during the enthronement ceremony of His Beatitude Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Venerable Primate of the Throne of St Mark, will concelebrate with the Russian Primate at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
At the service, His Beatitude Theodoros II of Alexandria will be accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya, His Grace Athanasios of Cyrene and His Grace Gabriel of Mareotis.
