On 9th June 2012 His beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa accompanied by the Hegumen of the Monastery of St Savvas, the Very Reverend Archimandrite Meletios Koumanis, attended as an honoured guest the reception on the upcoming national day of Russia, which was hosted in the grounds of the Institute of Russian Culture, which is housed in the mansion of the famous family of Egypt, the Salvagos.
His Beatitude was welcomed by the Consul General of Russia in Alexandria, Mr. Dmitriy Viktorovich Kurakov, who received the Patriarchal blessings for prosperity and progress of the Russian nation, and then took His Beatitude on a tour of the totally renovated area of this preserved building which is filled with memories of the cosmopolitan period of Alexandria, when the entire area was known as the Quartier Grec – Greek Quarter.
