With the permission and blessing of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the digitalization programme of the precious manuscripts which are kept in the specifically equipped renovated Patriarchal Library was inaugurated on 3rd December 2009.
The realization of the programme was made possible on the one hand by the unselfish contribution of the necessary technical means from the “Juma Al Majed Center for Culture and Heritage”, situated in Dubai, and on the other through the financial assistance of the National Bank of Greece, managed by the NGO Organization “The Light of Africa”. With the completion of this particular programme, the spiritual heritage of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, as it has historically been promoted in the pages of the manuscripts in question, will be available through the internet for every researcher or reader through the creation of a basis of facts. Which will be operate as an ark of knowledge.
Present at the ceremony were a representative of His Excellency the Sheik and Founder of the above-named Institution, Mr. Juma Al Majed, the coordinator of the organizing and administration of the NGO mentioned, Mr Thomas Karakostas, Mr Agamemnon Tselikas, Supervisor of the programme, the Superintendent of the Historic and Paleographical Archives of the Educational Institute of the National Bank Mr Andreas Tselikas, who is a Philologist and Paleographer and who will oversee the programme as a digital programmer as well as the Director of the Patriarchal Library, Mr Apostolos Trifyllis
