CONTINUATION OF THE PEACEFUL VISIT OF HIS BEATITUDE THE PATRIARCH OF SERBIA TO THE ANCIENT CHURCH OF ALEXANDRIA
Continuing his Peaceful visit to the ancient Church of Alexandria, on 6th October 2012, His Beatitude Irenaios the Patriarch of Serbia had a private meeting with His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa at the Patriarchal See.
The two Primates then visited the Patriarchal Mansion, the Patriarchal Library and the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria, as well as the “St Athanasios” Patriarchal Academy there, the Monastery Library and the museum dedicated to the memory of Patriarch Nicholas VI, and a reception was held in honour of Patriarch Irenaios in the Throne Room. The Venerable Primate of the Serbian Church also visited the famous Alexandrian Library.
At noon, the Hellenic Community of the Great City hosted an official lunch in his honour, attended also by His Beatitude, Their Eminences Petros Metropolitan of Aksum, General Patriarchal Vicar, Elder Metropolitan Kallinikos of Pilousion, Metopolitan Ioannis of Sourmadia, Metropolitan Andreas of Remenziani, His Grace Niphon Bishop of Babylonos, Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo, the Honourable Consul Genreal of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Christos Kapodistrias, the President of SAE Mr Stephanos Tamvakis, the Honourable Deputy Chairman of the Hellenic Community Mr Nikolaos Kopels, the Chairman of the Naval Club Mr Edmond Kasimatis, Chairman and members of community societies and brotherhoods, clergy and others.
On the evening of the same day His Beatitude the Serbian Patriarch officiated at Vespers at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, together with the Hierarchs of the Serbian Church His Eminence Ioannis of Soumadia and Andreas of Remenziani, His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros and Their Eminences Elder Metropolitan Petros of Aksum, Elder Metropolitan Kallinikos of Pilousion, Metropolitan Nicholas or Ermopolis and Their Graces Bishops Gabriel of Mareotis and Niphon Babylonos.
Their Beatitudes the two Patriarchs then attended a festive function by the youth of the area of the Hellenic Community, for the beginning of the year of activities of the Hellenic Scouts of Alexandria.
