AWARDING OF MEDAL TO THE OUTGOING AMBASSADOR OF GREECE TO EGYPT FROM THE PATRIARCH OF ALEXANDRIA
On November 28, 2022, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa awarded the Grand Cross of Savvas the Sanctified to His Excellency the outgoing Ambassador of Greece to Egypt Mr. Nikolaos Garilidis,, at the completion of his term in the Land of the Nile.
Addressing the Ambassador, His Beatitude expressed his grateful thanks for his valuable consensus on important issues concerning the Patriarchate, mentioning among other things: “You are a very educated person, you are a lover of art, your personality is adorned with many gifts, therefore I am sure that wherever you are called to serve, in whatever role you find yourself, you will always have a lot to offer.” In conclusion, he emphasized the long friendship which has connected them for thirty years.
During his reply, the outgoing Ambassador thanked His Beatitude for the honour given to him. “Friendship, love and appreciation are mutual. These feelings come to be complemented by a deep recognition, because I saw in depth here the work you have done throughout all these years”, pointed out His excellency Mr. Garilidis.
The award ceremony was attended by His Eminence Narcissus Metropolitan of Pelusium, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, the Honorable Consul General of Greece in Alexandria Mr. Athanasios Kotsionis and clergy of the Patriarchal Court.
