For the first time, today October 27, 2022, Rwanda welcomed its Spiritual Father, His Beatitude Theodoros II Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
His Beatitude arrived at the International Airport in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, early in the afternoon.
At the airport His Beatitude was welcomed by His Eminence Innokentios Metropolitan of Burundi and Rwanda, Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt Ms. Rania El Banna, the Honorary Consul of Egypt Ms. Madonna Magdy Mikhail as well as diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representing the President of the Republic of Rwanda Mr. Paul Kagame.
The reception was also attended by Their Eminences the Metropolitans Ieronymos of Kampala and Hariton of kananga and Their Graces the Provincial Bishops Neophytos of Nyeri Sylvester of Jinja and Nektarios of Gulu, the clergy and the faithful people of God who extended a warm welcome to the Alexandrian Primate.
Filled with emotion, His Beatitude referred to the important event of the first official visit of an Alexandrian prelate to Rwanda and to the joy of being among his spiritual leaders, who are the African High Priests of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
In the evening he attended a dinner hosted by Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt accompanied by the Hierarchs of the Throne at the Ambassadorial residence.
