On 13th September 2009, the eve of the feast of the Universal Elevation of the Precious and Life-giving Cross, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at the Service of Great Vespers and conducted the Service of the Salutations of the Precious Cross at the Holy Patriarchal Chapel of Ss Theodoroi.
On the day of the feast, 14th September 2009, His Beatitude together with His Grace Bishop Spyridon of Kanopos and His Grace Bishop Gennadios of Nilopolis , officiated and preached the homily during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria .
Also, on the same day, he received in the Patriarchal See, the teachers of the historic Averoff High School in Alexandria , who received the Patriarchal blessing for the beginning of the new academic year 2009-2010.
