On 29th January 2010, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Catherine in Alexandria for the benefit of the pupils of the Hellenic Schools, on the Feast of the Three Holy Hierarchs. Before the end of the Liturgy His Beatitude addressed the pupils and gave his blessing to all.
On 30th January he went to the suburb of Mareotis in Alexandria where he distributed school stationery to the poor Bedouin children in the area.
On Sunday 31 January, His Beatitude officiated at the Liturgical prayers at the Holy Church of the Unmercenaries in the in the town of Abukir, on the occasion of the holy memory of Holy Cyrus and John who were martyred in this area during the persecutions by Diocletian (284-305). The church hymns were sung by the African choir of the students of the Patriarchal Academy “Agios Athanasios”, and the homily was preached by Archimandrite Panteleimon Arathymos, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office. His Beatitude then conducted the service of the Blessing of the Water, addressed the large congregation and attended a festive lunch hosted by the Administrator of the Church, Mr. Pericles Tsaparis.
