His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa continues his missionary and pastoral journey to the Holy Metropolis of the Cameroon.
On 24th November 2017, in the afternoon, he visited the Greek Consulate in Douala, where the Honorary Consul General of Greece and Archon Referendarios of the Alexandrian Patriarchal Throne, the Honorable Mr. Anestis Arnopoulos, welcomed him warmly, hosting and official dinner in honour of the Patriarch.
The next morning, 25th November 2017, the Alexandrian Primate conducted the Divine Liturgy in memory of the Alexandrian Great Martyr St Catherine at the Holy Church of Ss Constantine and Helen in Douala, con-celebrating with their Eminences Metropolitan Gregory of the Cameroon and Narcissus of Accra, many Priests and Deacons, with the participation of a church choir of indigenous Orthodox Christians and in the presence of many faithful.
In his homily, His Beatitude spoke on the life and virtues of St Catherine, who is a living and eternal example of love and sacrifice for Jesus Christ.
He then expressed his joy on the spiritual development and progress of the Local Church in the Cameroon and the consolidation of the Orthodox faith in the region. He congratulated the local Metropolitan Gregory for his efforts during the thirteen years of ministry in the Cameroon and congratulated him on the anniversary of his ordination as Metropolitan of the Cameroon, which too place on the 25th November 2004.
His Eminence Gregory thanked the Alexandrian Primate for hi wishes and mentioned that the foundations for Orthodoxy in the country were placed on a firm foundation by His Beatitude the Patriarch, during his productive tenure as Metropolitan of the Cameroon.
Immediately after the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude together with his entourage, undertook a pastoral visit to the Greeks who live in Douala, to bless them and to support them spiritually. In the hall of the Greek Club, in the presence of the Honorable Chairman of the Greek Community in Douala, he had the opportunity to meet and discuss with all the members of the Greek Community, old friends and colleagues of the Missions, from the time when he served as Metropolitan of the Cameroon.
Immediately thereafter, His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II, left by road for the capital Yaounde, so that on the following day he could serve at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos.
