On Wednesday 19th September 2018, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa arrived at the International Airport in Warsaw, accompanied by His Eminence Savvas Metropolitan of Nubia and the Very Reverend Archimandrite Sylvester Kisitou.
The Alexandrian Primate was welcomed in the VIP lo0unge at the airport by Hs Beatitude Savvas Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland, together with Metropolitans, clergy and colleagues, The Polish Primate then hosted a lunch in honour of His Beatitude the Patriarch and his entourage.
On the evening of the same day, the official welcome of the Alexandrian Primate took place at the Holy Cathedral of St Mary Magdalene in Warsaw.
Following the Doxology, His Beatitude Metropolitan Savvas of Warsaw and All Poland, spoke of the warm relations between the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Church of Poland, the Patriarchs Kyrillos Loukaris and Meletios Pegas, as well as of their contribution to the Church of Poland.
Thereafter, Patriarch Theodoros expressed his gratitude for the welcome and said how glad he was to be in Poland for the first time. He mentioned the past, the present and the future of the Patriarchate, and thanked and blessed all those who were present. Commemorative gifts were then exchanged between the Primates of the two Churches and the philanthropic organization of the Metropolis.
His Beatitude also thanked the President of the Arabic Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, through the Cond=sul General of Egypt, praying for the prosperity of Egypt. His Beatitude was then taken on a guided tour of the Church Museum and the Metropolitan Chapel of St Savvas, and attended a dinner with clergy from Warsaw.
