His Grace Isaac Tsapoglou Bishop of Bujumbura and Burundi, was born in Kalon Agro New Drama in 1967. He completed his schooling where he was born. He graduated from the Ecclesiastical School of Nea Karvali Kavala and studied at the Theological Faculty of the Aristotelian University of Thessalonica.
He entered the Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity at Pente Vryses Lagada as a novice monk in 1985 and in 1986 he was tonsured a monk by the late Blessed Elder Metropolitan Spyridon of Lagada. He was ordained Deacon by the same Metropolitan in 1990 and Priest in 1994. He was a Preacher of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, Abbot at the Holy Monastery of the Holy Trinity Pente Vryses Lagada, Thessalonica, at the Holy Monastery of Agios Dimitrios Valetsikos Tsaritsanis, Larissa and as Spiritual Supervisor of the Monastery of the Holy Unmercenaries in Aboukir, Egypt. He served in rotation in the Princes Islands of Constantinople, in South Africa and in Botswana. In 2017 he was transferred to the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria, by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa and was Head of the "Athanasios the Great" Patriarchal Academy.
On 15th February 2024 by proposal of His Beatitude he was elected Bishop of Bujumbura and Burundi and was ordained on 25th February 2024 at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
