His Grace Sylvester Bishop of Gulu and Eastern Uganda (born Maximos Kisitou) was born in Kampala , Uganda in 1982, where he complete his schooling. He is a graduate of the Department of Social Theology from the Theological Academy of the University of Athens. Apart from Luganda, he speaks Greek and English. He was tonsured a Monk by His Eminence Kyrillos Metropolitan of Rhodes at the Holy Monastery of the Holy Virgin of Skiadene, Rhodes, ordained Deacon on 8/9/2013 and Priest on 8/9/2014 by the same Metropolitan. Following an invitation he traveled to Alexandria in 2015, receiving the office of Archimandrite of the Alexandrian Throne and was enlisted in the Holy Clergy of the Patriarchal Court. He served as Parish Priest at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of St Savvas the Sanctified, as well as Archivist and was in charge of the Registry.
On 26/11/2018 following the proposal of His Beatitude, he was elected by the Holy Synod as Bishop of the newly-established Diocese of Goulou and Eastern Uganda and was ordained by His Beatitude at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of the Venerable Savvas the Sanctified in Alexandria.
