On 14th November 2009, His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa went to Zakynthos following an invitation from Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Zakynthos, in order to participate in the festive and Liturgical functions of the golden Jubilee of His Eminence, together with His Beatitude Chrysostomos Archbishop of Cyprus and His Beatitude Ieronymos of Athens.
His Beatitude, together with His Eminence Alexandros Metropolitan of Nigeria and His Grace Gabriel Bishop of Mareotis were met at the airport of Zakynthos by His Eminence Chrysostomos and local authorities. They went immediately to the Conference Centre of the Municipality of Arkadion where His etitude addressed his greetings to those participating in the Conference on religious tourism.
On the evening of the same day he attended the function of the presentation of the “Haristirion Tomo” in honour of His Eminence Chrysostomos of Zakynthos.
On 15th November, His Beatitude officiated at the Patriarchal and multi-hierarchal con-celebration of the Liturgy, together with the Archbishops of Cyprus and Greece and many hierarchs and spoke appropriately. Following the Bloodless Sacrifice His Beatitude attended the official lunch hosted by the Metropolitan of Zakynthos in honour of his guests.
The next day, 16th November, the Venerable Primate of the Throne of St Mark visited the Holy Church of St Joseph the Sanctified of Crete, and later visited the Prefect of Zakynthos as well as the Mayor of Zakynthos.
He flew to Athens that evening and from there departed directly for Alexandria, and was seen off by His Eminence Chrysostomos of Zakynthos, the clergy and representatives of local authority of the island.
