On 30th June and 1st July 2011, His beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa officiated at the spiritual and liturgical functions which took place at the church of the Holy Unmdercenaries in Subra, Cairo, together with His Grace Nikodimos, Bishop of Nitria, Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo and His Grace Niphon, Bishop of Babylonia, Hegumen of the Holy Monastery of ST George in Old Cairo.
During his address, His Beatitude spoke of the life of the honoured Saints, the meaning of contribution to our fellows with the only criterion being the Gospel command of unselfish love, and mentioned also the work done at the Orthodox Patriarchal Spiritual Centre, adjacent to the church.
Also, before the end of the Divine Liturgy, he conducted the service of the Sanctification of water, and gave an icon of the Holy Unmercenaries to the departing Ambassador of Cyprus in Egypt, Mr Konstantinos Leontiou.
