On Sunday 19th June 2022, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Church of St Savvas the Sanctified in Nicosia of the Exarchate of the Ancient patriarchate in Cyprus, concelebrating with His Grace Nicodemus Bishop of Nitria, Patriarchal Vicar in Cyprus.

During the Eucharistic Gathering, His Beatitude preached the homily, referring to the great feast of All Saints, which also means the end of the period of the Pentecostarion. He also stressed the Apostolic Legacy and the particular responsibility of the path and teaching “in the Holy Spirit” that the Second Throne Church of St Mark has towards the people of the African tribes, according to the Lord’s Commandment “Go out into all the world and teach all nations”, on the Continent of the future, as he said characteristically. He particularly referred to the experiences he gained from his recent visit to Arusha, Tanzania, while announcing his upcoming trips to the countries of Madagascar and Rwanda. In conclusion, he expressed his joy because he is again in Cyprus the Birthplace of Saints, which stands as a constant helper and companion in the painstaking missionary and humanitarian work of the Patriarchate in afflicted Africa.

Before the end of the Divine Liturgy, the ATM awarded Patriarchal Offices to two distinguished Cypriot lawyers for their wholehearted contribution to the Alexandrian Church, outlining the importance of the practical contribution of all the Archons of the Throne to Her. In particular he elevated the Archon Chief Legal Officer the Most Honourable Mr. Constantinos Tsiridis to Great Archon, and awarded the Honourable Mrs Fotini Tsiridi, Member of Parliament for Limassol the office of Lady Guardian of the Laws.

It is noted that the Liturgical Prayers and the reception hosted thereafter were attended by the Renowned Major-General Panagiotis Pantelides, Lieutenant Christos Mavris of the Cypriot Police Force, the Director of the Hellenic Forces in Cyprus (HFC) Colonel Stylianos Titanas and other dignitaries.
