On 30th October 2012 His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa arrived at the airport of the city of Point Noire in Congo-Brazzaville.
His Beatitude was welcomed by the Honourable Governor of Point Noire, Mr. Alexandre Honori Paka, clergy and many faithful Christians. In remarks made to the media His Beatitude spoke of the progress which has taken place in Congo-Brazzaville and particularly in Point Noire, the aims of his visit and expressed his wholehearted prayers for the continuous progress and prosperity of the country.
On the afternoon of the same day the Venerable Primate of the Alexandrian Church visited the Honourable Governor of Point noire Mr. Alexandre Honori Paka, who expressed the State’s gratitude for the beneficial presence of the Orthodox Church in the broader region. His Beatitude, as a token of gratitude for the support shown by the Governor to the Holy Diocese of Brazzaville and Gabon, awarded Mr. Honori Paka the Gold Lion of St Mark.
A Doxology was then sung at the Holy Church of St Dimitrios where His Beatitude spoke to the congregation about the salvific mission of the Church and praised the intense spiritual life and action of thisParish Community.
