His Beatitude Theodoros II Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa received on the Day of the Feast of the Nativity of Christ, the wishes of the Coptic Patriarch Theodoros II, on the first visit of the new Primate of the Copts at the Patriarchal Offices in Cairo.
Their meeting took place in a warm climate and in the presence of many representatives of the Egyptian media, an indication of the high esteem and respect which the Second Throne Patriarchate of Orthodoxy enjoys in the Land of the Nile.
Welcoming the Coptic Patriarch, His Beatitude expressed to him his sincere emotions on this visit, and wishing the new Primate a productive Patriarchy for the benefit of the Coptic flock of Egypt.
His Beatitude also referred to the historic relations between the two churches and to their mutual interest in the progress of all citizens of Egypt, independent of religion.
He spoke in detail about the multifaceted missionary activities of the Patriarchate to all ends of the African continent, not forgetting to invite the Coptic Patriarch to the See of the Throne in Alexandria.
On his own behalf, the Coptic Patriarch also expressed his gratification on this first meeting with the Alexandrian Primate especially on the festive occasion of the Nativity of Christ.
He expressed his optimism for the further tightening of the bonds between the two churches, on the basis of altruism and mutual understanding.
In conclusion he wished that harmony would prevail in Egypt, the land were the Holy Family walked.
