On 6th June 2014, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, together with his entourage, visited the archaeological site of ancient Carthage and the Acropolium. On the afternoon of the same day he had a significant meeting with the country’s Cultural Minister Mr. Mourad Sakli, with whom, in a warm atmosphere he discussed issues regarding the restoration of the monumental Holy Church of the Three Hierarchs in Sphax, as well as various other issues regarding inter-cultural relations between people and Religions as well as the tolerance and harmonious co-existence between various cultural traditions. His Beatitude explained the contribution of the Patriarchate through the creation or renovation of museums and libraries in the See, as well as in individual districts of the Throne. It was in fact a constructive meeting.
The Alexandrian Primate then went on to visit and bless the Russian Spiritual Cultural Centre and attended a function for the day of Russian literature and Russian language, and spoke suitably in Russian emphasizing also the unity within the heart of the Church, regardless of race, nation or language, and attended a dinner hosted in his honour at the Russian Ambassadorial Residence.
