On 7th September 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, together with the other Primates of the Churches of the Middle East, was welcomed at the Palace of the Hashemite Kingdom in Amman, Jordan, by the King of Jordan His Majesty Abdellah Ben Al Houssein, within the framework of the 11th General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, taking place in the Jordanian capital.

During the meeting and also afterwards at the lunch hosted by His Majesty the King in honour of the Christian Primates, thoughts and opinions were exchanged regarding the Middle East and the prevailing situation as well as the ascertainment of the Jordanian King that there can be no Middle East without the presence of Christians, who are a centuries-old key part of this geographical area and urged all to work in all directions for peace and the fraternal coexistence of people, regardless of religious belief, in this sensitive area of the Middle East.

Finally, during the last day of the deliberations of the General Assemble, all the Primates had the opportunity of exchanging thoughts and opinions to promote peace and to contribute to the end of the hostilities in the Middle East, as well as to provide material aid to ease the plight of the affected victims, a result of the war.
