Today, 30th November 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, paid a courtesy visit to the Presidential Mansion in Athens and met with His Excellency Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, President of the Hellenic Republic.
At this meeting, His Beatitude the Patriarch briefed His Excellency the President about the work of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria throughout the African continent, the missionary efforts it undertakes as well as about the Hellenic Communities in Africa. He also briefed him about his recent missionary journey to Tanzania as well as the journey he took to Russia and his meeting with His Excellency the President of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin and thanked him for the full support given to him personally and to the Patriarchate of Alexandria generally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Beatitude gave the President the recently-published volume regarding the total restoration of the Holy Church of Saint George Old Cairo which was presented a few days prior to this at the Sarogleion Mansion in Athens, and the President also gave the Patriarch a commemorative gift.
