On Friday 28th April 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, gave a warm welcome to His Holiness the Archbishop of Constantinople, New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomaios I, at the Holy Monastery of St George in Old Cairo.
The Ecumenical Patriarch is visiting Egypt, because of his participation in the deliberations of the International Peace Conference, of the Al-Azhar Foundation.
Present at the brilliant reception for the Ecumenical Patriarch at the historic Monastery, were the Metropolitans of France Emmanuel and of Arkalohori, Kastelli and Viano, Andreas, Nikodimos Metropolitan of Memphis Patriarchal Vicar of Cairo, Narkissos Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Niphon Metropolitan of Pylousion and Theodoros Bishop Babylonos Abott of the Holy Monastery. Also present were Mr. Christos Kavalis Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Cairo, Members of the Management Committee, Mr. Samer Houri Chairman of the Arabic Speaking Orthodox Community together with Members of the Arabic Speaking Community, Members of the World Council of Churches who are in Cairo for the Interfaith Conference, representatives of many Societies, Greek and Arabic-speaking Scouts and many people.
His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa defined the visit of the Bartholomaios the Ecumenical Patriarch as the most important event after the Inauguration of St George Old Cairo, which took place two years ago.
