On 21st June 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, welcomed to the Patriarchate Auxiliary Bishop Pavly, representative of the Coptic Patriarch Tawandros II, in Alexandria.
His Beatitude the Patriarch had constructive discussions with him on issues of mutual interest between the two Churches and ways of cooperation between them were analyzed in order to protect and advance the Christians who live in the land of the Nile. Also discussed were ways of action, prevention and tackling of issues that threaten the religious and cultural heritage of Egypt, and it was agreed that these actions should be organized by means of future meetings at the highest level, between the two Primates.
On his behalf, the Alexandrian Primate addressed a formal invitation to the Primate of the Coptic Church in Egypt, Tawandros II, to visit Alexandria, See of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.
In conclusion, commemorative gifts were exchanged.
